| Routes used by local cyclists take some learning. |
Here are some short cuts. The first thing to do is to get hold of the latest edition of the Wolverhampton Cycling map. This grades the whole network by road type from a cyclists' point of view as well as showing shortcuts, passable plugged streets, off-road routes and downhills. We'll post WoWcc favourite routes here including cross-border travel to villages and districts divided by only the imaginary line of the Wolverhampton metropolitan borough boundary. Click here for rides in and around Wolverhampton that are in our Document Archive Click here for a map image of these rides. Under the Routes menu items and below are the fabulous Cambridge cycle campaign's route planning facility and photomap - now centred on Wolverhampton. Click on a location, zoom in or choose a picture icon in the photomap. There are approaching 2000 lines entered by WoWcc members to enable journeys to be planned between Shifnal and Walsall, Brewood to Woodsetton and most points within this area. See the destinations directory here for ideas. For example, Wolverhampton routes radiating from the railway station are entered in Journey Planner as is the whole city centre. What are all those mysterious 81 signs around the city ? Click Route Planner here for Main NCN81 between Wolverhampton and Codsall Stations Or click Route Planner here for NCN81 Cross City Route between Wolverhampton Station and Aldersley Leisure Centre. If you know a really good shortcut , want to add your home street or submit a photo to the photomap then you will need a log-in to the Cambridge Cycle Campaign website. Get a log-in by registering and add to our local network of routes. You can zoom in to 500 feet altitude using the satellite image. Always use the drop down "select a line menu" to choose a line in view either as a start point or to connect to one that you encounter. |
