As well as riding out into the surrounding countryside or exploring the Black Country's canal network by bike in the lovely weather, there are a few key events to take part in. It is really important to take part in the Midlands Metro Consulation on the proposed Wolverhampton city centre loop. Imagine trying to cycle across each of the four tram curves when the rails are wet. Southbound won't be too bad because it'll be relatively easy to line up at 90 degrees. Northbound will be a very acute angle crossing of the rails. If the project is engineered to be cycle friendly then we'll have a really useful addition to the public transport network. On the other hand, UK cyclists have a long history of coming out second or third best in big infrastructure projects. If that means more dangerous, ill-conceived bits of cycle route, like those that accompany the A41 tramway, then there's a poor outlook for cycling in Wolverhampton. Exhibition dates are :- 8 July 9am–3pm & 17 July 12pm–6pm | Network West Midlands Exhibition Bus outsideQueens Building, Wolverhampton Bus Station | | 11 July 9am–5pm & 12 July 10am–6pm | Network West Midlands Exhibition Bus at the Wolverhampton Show, West Park | | 15–18 July 9am–3pm (Staffed on 15 and 18 July) | Exhibition Stand at BB's Cafe, Wulfrun Centre
